What is "Local-First"?

Simply put, local-first means your data is stored on your own device. Local-first is the best approach for privacy protection, placing data sovereignty in your own hands. Easchi adheres to extremely strict local data storage specifications:

• No network required, fully independent: Even on a high-speed train without internet, on an airplane, or in a remote mountainous area, you can still smoothly read, edit, and review all your content.
• No “data hostage”: Your notes are not locked into a proprietary software format. All additional data, metadata, and configurations generated by Easchi at runtime are stored in a highly readable plaintext format within your local user documents directory.
• Privacy without compromise: Your knowledge, thoughts, and privacy stay only on your own screen. During data synchronization, data is first encrypted on your device, then uploaded and stored in ciphertext form.
